Practical Application is the Best Way to Learn Math, and this Workbook ShinesAs a homeschooling mother and now grandmother, have always tried to make sure that the children understood how to practically apply what they learned, rather than just memorizing and forgetting. My friend who is studying to be a teacher recommended Kumon workbooks, and I liked the fact that this was word problems and so ordered it. Wow! This workbook is a bit challenging for my math whiz grandson, and a few of the problems have made me go back to my math foundations. My only problem with it is that it isn’t long enough, he has almost completed the work, so I will have to buy another.

We loved this bookWe loved this book. It has very nice ramp up for the student, clear instructions and right set of questions per chapter.

Not a good selection of problemsAs a former math teacher, this book randomly chose problems instead of focusing on a few select topics. Students need quite a bit of similar word problems for mastery. This workbook is not a good choice.
Brynda S DeArte –
Inexpensive greatReally good book. First example explains how to do it. Words for the 2nd section reinforced in the first section with same pictures. Didn’t have to but a bridge book. Actually letting them work a grade level ahead

Not 5th grade level at all…Very disappointed, there are very few word problems associated with fractions, and even the ones that are are 4th grade level or below (all common demoninators). I wouldn’t recommend this for 5th grade level at all.

highly recommendI have purchased a lot of Kumon books already and intend to purchase many more. I have been very pleased with the quality of the Kumon books. They are wonderful tools for learning basic math concepts. They are well correlated to the public schools curriculum. They are easy to understand, very systematic and my son loves them. The repetitive nature of the exercises in this book really helps. We use this book as an extra practice to prepare him for school. This workbook includes word problems dealing with fifth grade multiplying and dividing decimals and fractions, and tables & graphs. We highly recommend it! My son also does math practice in Beestar (a wonderful website beestar.org) as a supplement of practice from school and Kumon workbooks. Thanks to all the wonderful practice, he has shown great progress in math.

One of the Best Reading Tools Yet!One of the best reading tools I have found. My son has been in Kumon now, and wish that I had known about this earlier.

Great purchase for children’s knowledge and ApplicationThese are nice buy for your kids. I love the level of book problems which makes your child’s brain at work. I would still want them to frame the words little more trickier and want the quality of pages improved. I am satisfied with the purchase.

these are very structured books and fun to dofast delivery.I buy kumon books for my daughter in all subjects that are available.she enjoys doing them (most of the times).these are very structured books and fun to do.t.she just finished year 4 this and moving to year 5.she improved a lot since she has been doing kumon books.in her final report she did 4c and 4b in all subjects. she used to go to kumon centre, she did not liked it and found it boring.more important that we had to pay £50 for each subject. now we do not have to travel to the centre and he can work on these books at her paste.very pleased.I would recommend them

Too expensiveI expected a few example problems with solutions steps but this just has word questions. No explanation on how to solve. It kind of fits CBSE grade 5 math level but questions in whole numbers section are too few.It is also too expensive for just word problems. You can get worksheets off the Internet. Not worth the price.
