This activity book is amazing! This activity book is amazing! I got the book for my four-year-old grandson because I noticed that he really had no clue as to how to use scissors effectively. I had never worked with the Kumon books before, and I was really impressed with the colorful pictures and the way the book progresses slowly yet steadily in the level of difficulty. This helps develop the child’s scissors confidence and control, and it helps the child gradually train and strengthen the muscles used to manipulate scissors. At first the child makes multiple short straight cuts, eventually progressing to longer straight cuts to curves, spirals, and finally to outlines of objects and animals. At first my grandson really struggled to make the cuts and couldn’t manage holding the scissors and the paper at the same time. For the first ten or so activities my job was to hold the paper for him so that he could focus on manipulating the scissors. He needed lots of coaching and encouragement, and he would get frustrated, but he was so excited about making his own toys and presents for family members and decorations for parties, that he kept at it. He loved the results of the first two projects, cutting the whiskers for a dog and a cat, so much that he slept with them both during naps and at night.. Somehow he also got the idea that I should cut out the outlines of the animals so he could tape them onto chopsticks to make puppets. So each project had a “child part” and a “grandma part”. Today’s projects had the child cutting out the outlines of the objects and animals. I simply handed my grandson the child’s portion of the pages, and he went and got the scissors and did them all himself and finished the whole book. It is the first time he has ever finished an entire activity book, and he was so excited about that. I signed his certificate of completion and he very proudly showed it off to Daddy when Daddy came to take him home. And my grandson took home four more puppets that he had made himself! And he asked to do more scissors projects! The most impressive results from this activity book, though, are not about just scissors skills or even about being better prepared for kindergarten. These projects progressed at a rate that let him be successful even when he felt challenged. They developed his confidence and got him excited about making things himself and adding his own creative innovations. They inspired creative play. They encouraged generosity since he had lots of projects to give away as gifts. Through this scissors skills book, my grandson has discovered a love of learning and an enthusiasm for craft-style projects that will probably be life-long. Plus, he had a whole lot of fun with Grandma! That’s a lot of value from one activity book.I had also purchased the

Melissa & Doug Scissor Skills Activity Pad

for my grandson, but it was too advanced for him until now. He completed the first of the 20 activities today, and with his new-found enthusiasm for scissors activities, he will probably finish the entire activity pad this week. After that, I’m going back to Kumon books. Nothing else compares! In closing, I want to make one really important point. It is crucial to have good children’s blunt-tip scissors for these projects. We had already experimented with two different pairs of less expensive children’s scissors, before breaking down and buying

Fiskars 5 Inch Classic Blunt Tip Kids Scissors, Color Received May Vary

. The Fiskars were such a huge improvement that I ended going back and getting a second pair for me, so that I could work side by side with my grandson so he could imitate me. The Fiskars are far more comfortable to use and their ergonomic shape gently guides the child’s hand into the proper position. And they have large enough handles that I can use them quite comfortably for these kinds of projects.

A wonderful book for children to learn to cut with scissorsI have been reviewing all of the books currently available in the Kumon First Steps Workbooks series, and LET’S CUT PAPER is the 4th and final one. It is just wonderful, like the other 3 books: LET’S STICKER AND PASTE, LET’S COLOR, and LET’S FOLD. This book gives young children (recommended age 2 and up) a fun first experience handling scissors. My son is 8 yrs. old and is a normal boy in every way, except like many children, was slower to develop some of his fine motor skills. He has loved using all of these first steps workbooks, along with the regular Kumon workbooks. He has gained much in his ability to cut carefully using the simple exercises in this book. Please be sure to give your child a GOOD pair of scissors with this book! Cheap and junky scissors will lead to the projects looking chewed, not cut. Do your child a favor and let his projects look beautiful by giving him a good pair of scissors. Fiskars for children, with blunt or pointed tips are very good. We use the Crayola child’s scissors, with all metal blades (not plastic) and these cut extremely well too.Now armed with a good pair of scissors, what will your child be cutting? Well, there are 39 small pages for him to cut, beginning with simple things like cut the whiskers on the cat, the dog, and the tiger. Project #4 is cutting the square paper in half on the thick grey line, and arranging the 2 pieces to make a picture of a car. #6 has you do this, but cutting the square on a diagonal, and arranging the 2 pieces to make a boat.#7 has the child make 3 cuts across the square, and tape the 3 cut pieces in order to make a rocket. Project #8 is the same, with 3 cuts making 4 pieces to tape together…it is a tug of war rope with animals! My son loved playing this game, we each took an end and pulled to see whose animals won the tug of war (the tape will snap apart). The next few are cutting the aquare into 4 small squares and arranging the picture correctly, like a 4 pc. puzzle. Several projects involve cutting from the outside in, to free up the arms and legs of a teddy bear or cat, the wings and tail of a bird, etc. Some pages have the child cut and then fold the edges to make animals in a fenced pasture, etc. Then there is a section where the child cuts across the mouth of people and various animals. The mouths are wavy, curved, etc, and when cut, you can make the mouth closed, or open to see what they are eating. Several more pages are having the child cut along the grey line either in a spiral, or diminishing square, triangle, etc. to cut apart a spider web, or a fish line, or roses on a vine, or watermelons in a patch, or make a curly snake. All these teach the child to cut and turn the paper when the direction of the cutting line changes. Other pages have the child cut a square, circle, oval, triangle out of the center of the page to flip corrctly to be the lions face, the rhino’s nose, etc. And at the end are objects to just cut out: #33 is a beach ball, #34 is a half a sandwich, #36 a hippo head, #38 a rabbit’s head. Very simple, yet again teaching the children to carefully cut and reposition the paper while doing so. This is a very fun book, the artwork is fun and not babyish, is colorful, and printed on heavy paper. Many children LOVE scissors and love to cut things! So give them this book, and maybe it will save baby sister’s hair from being cut off! After your child completes this book, I recommend Kumon’s MY FIRST BOOK OF CUTTING, which has 40 more project pages for the scissor happy child to cut! In conclusion: a wonderful, wonderful little book!

Easy to handle for kidsI actually like the sizing of this booklet a little over the large 8×11 book because it’s easier for kids to maneuver and handle. The content is different than the big cutting book which is good, since one other book we got had redundant contents.

  4. PandaMom

High quality, very enriching workbookI ordered a bunch of the Kumon books because I work full time and felt that I have not been working with my pre-schooler on skills her friends have been learning. I also wanted a set of organized activities I could just grab and go when we have time to fill because I don’t have the time to be supermom organizing my own homemade activities and crafts. So far this cutting book has been the favorite, although all the Kumon ones I ordered are 5 stars too. My daughter is addicted to this book and is always asking to work on her cutting book. Definitely follow the recommendations in the book such as to only do a couple pages at a time and leave your child wanting to do more. If you rush through the pages, you just waste the book and it is not as enriching. Take your time with each page; discuss and explain it. AND we also get some use and play value from the pages after the cutting is completed! Many of them have been cute little crafty things/animals that encourage imaginative play. They have done a superb job of stepping up the skill level every 2-4 pages. I’m thrilled as we turn each page and see what is next. It’s incredible quality throughout with the full color, slick pages and adorable drawings. And with almost all the pages we’ve done so far there is some additional skill-building activity after cutting – such as to match up the pieces to create a scene, fold the edges, tape pieces together. The parent is supposed to cut each page from the book, but I’ve been letting my daughter do that for extra practice. I help her hold the page and book while she cuts it across.I’m thrilled with how she has been developing her cutting skills and how much enthusiasm she has for it. We just did three pages where you cut slits above and below an animals arms and legs so you can make them flap their limbs. My daughter went the extra mile to also cut off a lot of the extra paper around the animals too. This book is exactly what I wanted and I can’t say enough good things about it. The Kumon people put a lot of time and thought into stepping the skills from beginning to end – I just never thought of things in this way. When you know how to use scissors, you just don’t realize that it actually is pretty tough! Cutting to a certain point and then stopping. Cutting all the way through. Cutting lines that intersect. Cutting around a shape, etc. Learning to hold the scissors and turn the paper. It’s wonderful and helps me spend enjoyable time with my child and feel confident she is learning the skills her friends are.We have not finished the book – we’re maybe 1/3 or so of the way through. I’m excited to see what comes next!

EASY FOR 3 YEAR OLDS!Very easy to teach little ones to cut with this adorable book.

This is a winner for beginner cutting practice! This product has been wonderful for my 2.5 year old. We love Kumon books for my 4 y.o, and were looking for something the help my little guy with cutting while his brother did his own cutting projects. This book is very age appropriate and a favorite for my boy. We love this for several reasons:1. The book is small which makes cutting for small hands much easier and rewarding for them2. Each page is supposed to be cut out so that their little hands can easily hold the square page and cut (with assistance)3. The pages are thick which makes it easier for beginner cutters to avoid ripping the page while trying to cut.4. The book itself, in true kumon fashion, grows with your child’s development of the skill. As my son progresses in his cutting skills, the activity gets a slightly more challenging.5. The cutting activities often are fun and engaging – making puzzles, masks, etc.My son LOVES puzzles and enjoys this aspect a lot.6. There are several pages (About 40 pages). This is not something that you will finish in a week realistically. Your child will enjoy this for a while if activities are spread out.7. I appreciate the reminder that your child is not perfect and is just learning, therefore they will make cutting mistakes. It’s unrealistic to think a 2 year old will cut in a straight line, but as parents sometimes we forget that. The reminder is nice :)We use this book with beginner safety scissors. There is absolutely no metal blade (made entirely of plastic). We are able to cut just fine with these scissors, even with wobbly two year old fingers. This is a winner in my book and I will definitely be purchasing more Kumon First Steps books for my little guy.

So much fun for my preschoolerThis book is too fun! My preschooler who was almost 4 at the time needed to practice using scissors. She would beg me too do pages from this book every day. There were a ton of pages but we blew through it pretty quickly because she enjoyed it so much. Love the kumon products-they were recommended to me by my teacher sister

  8. MokieMo

Awesome little bookThe pictures are engaging to our grandson. The paper is a good weight and easy to cut. I would definitely buy this book again and recommend it. It is a great little book for a child just starting to use scissors.

  9. LadyDi412

Good for Kids Who Struggle with Fine Motor at Ages 4 & 5.Let me start out by saying the book is tiny. It’s about the size of a 5×7 picture frame. In addition, the actual cutting activity is a small square surface of the paper so, the cutting activities are limited to about the size of a 4×4 piece of paper. Therefore, there wasn’t much cutting per activity page. There are gray lines that your child is supposed to follow. On each line, there is an arrow and star. You follow the direction of the arrow and stop at the star. While that seems self explanatory. I grasped the concept and directions immediately, but for a four year old, my son did not understand until just recently over a year later did he say, “Oh! I get it now!” I think this was because the other cutting activities he was used to the instruction were more like cut along the line so that the “baby elephant can get to the mama elephant.” The concept of direction just made more sense to him that way. So, after I first got this, I put it away because it just wasn’t working out. A year later, we recently finished all of the cutting activities and he fully grasps the directions, but it was a struggle in the beginning. I would start out with more simple cutting activities at first and then move to this book later.I should note that if you have a child with mostly gross motor skills, but struggles at fine motor skills, then this a decent purchase. While the age says 2 and up, there is no way my son would have been able to do this at 2. For multiple and various reasons. So, I bought this when he was about 3.5 or 4. We just now finished all the activities at age 5. So, if you’re a mama like me, you have a child with awesome gross motor skills, but struggles with fine motor, this is good for that little extra practice even at a later age. However, as I mentioned I would wait and do some other books or worksheets first before this one.

Just completed the whole book! There is a great and detailed review on this item from “Susan T” that originally prompted me to purchase this book. So I will not go into the product but how it was used now that we just completed the book. Originally purchased this back in May 2012 for a four year old girl. We worked through the first few pages together – here they are the short snips and learning to stop cutting after one snip. After a few of those, however, she lost interest. Not sure if the lack of interest was in not being challenged enough, I chose the next more challenging set of papers. This did not seem to work. So, the book sat on an art table that is always assessable for months, with one, or sometimes two pages cut out and worked on when I could talk her into doing some cutting. However, in a storm of interest she picked up the book where she left off. She started cutting out the sheets from the book herself and went through the last 20 papers on her own in two days. All of a sudden, stopping on the stars, cutting long strips, zig-zags, changed to cutting circles and cutting around ears of animals. She focused in on them and just kept doing them until there was no more. I am off to buy the More Let’s Cut Paper just to see how far and long the interest takes us.

Fun Activity Book for Preschool AgedDuring Covid, my then 3 year old was placed in a private pod preschool. She really picked up cutting, and we purchased a few cutting books for the teacher to utilize. This was one of the favorites. Wish they had more pages, or a volume 2,3, etc. otherwise, great colorful little activity book. Pages are nice thickness, too

  12. a2020

Really nice book.My barely-4-year-old daughter finished this book in one morning! But not in the bad way where she starts just ripping pages up and scribbling on them indiscriminately, she actually sat down, focused, and did the activities and it kept her happily busy for hours. We bought two of the Kumon cutting books and I love the colors and quality of the paper. The goals/activities are simple enough that she doesn’t totally lose focus, but progressively challenging enough to force her to really try at them. We bought another cutting book from a different brand that was all cutting out boxes, so this is a nice contrast – it’s got curves, spirals, zigzags, etc. She did need a few of the things explained (like the part where you cut across the mouth and overlap the pages afterwards so the little boy can “chew”) but with a little guidance she understood these well and enjoyed them, without it she would have enjoyed the cutting anyway. We’ve ordered more of the Kumon books – the only downside is that keeping her in them is going to get expensive if she goes through the next ones at the same rate!

Son with Autism enjoys scissor timeMy son Is six and diagnosed with Autism at 2. I knew he needed to learn some fine motor skills and scissors is one of the suggested things for children. As frightening as it was, I took a leap of faith and bought this book. He loves it and has come a long way with it! It gives parents great advice and though at the beginning he was way off, now he is understanding cutting on the line and where to stop! Totally recommend!

  14. Mary

Can’t say enough good things about this book!My 2, almost 3, year old was not experienced with scissors at all. This was the perfect book for her to learn cutting with. It starts assuming your kid has no experience and slowly works its way up. We did one page a day and it was the perfect pace for her to learn, and the paper quality was wonderful for cutting. Looking forward to using the other Kumon books.

  15. James & Amanda Furlong

Cute but simpleVery cute, perfect for the beginning cutter. My son is 4 and obsessed with using scissors and the pages are too basic for him but he still loves them. Each page doesn’t have enough cutting for him so he does a few in a sitting. I like the easy tear our feature too but this book won’t last long.

  16. Amy

Small activity bookJust know beforehand that this is a small book, and you won’t be taken by surprise. This book has very simple cutting exercises. The simplicity of it really helped my child to be familiar with and more confident in using scissors. (Hence 5 stars)However, because the activities themselves are not super exciting, so I would only recommend it for kids who are learning to use the scissors.

  17. hannah’smommy

Great for toddlers! As with the other Kumon books, I love this one for my daughter. It’s pretty challenging, as are most cutting books. It starts off easier and then you work your way up to the more difficult stuff. Buying the right scissors for your child is essential too! I bought a couple pairs and found that the easiest ones for my 2 1/2 year old to use are the Maped Koopy Spring Scissors which I also bought on Amazon. There is an optional spring that helps little ones with cutting by springing back open until they get used to doing it. I would definitely recommend these two items together. I like that this book isn’t just about cutting. Many times, when you cut along the gray lines, there is a little puzzle to put together too. My daughter loves to then glue what she just cut onto paper. These activities do take a little longer than the Let’s Sticker and Paste ones, but they are very engaging. Love, Love, Love these books!

  18. Amazon Customer

pretty goodPros: Cute pictures, clear lines, simple enough for young kids but does get more complexcons: small, I wish it was full size paper. weird shiny paper that looks nice but is not ideal for cutting, it should be thick, easy to hold paper.

  19. Nikki

It’s so adorable but she was four years old when she got …My little girl loves this! I bought her some child friendly scissors and gave her this with it for Easter. It’s so adorable but she was four years old when she got it and struggled a little bit with the exercises unless we were right there helping her. I took the advice listed in the book that said the most important thing was allowing your child to enjoy cutting even if they didn’t do the exercises. ( i’m sure i am paraphrasing that incorrectly) She ended up just enjoying cutting each paper into little pieces. I ended giving her an empty formula can with the lid and she would keep all of her scraps in there. Worked out really well and she loves this

  20. Amanda M.

CuteI love the thickness and sturdiness of the pages so my toddler is not struggling to keep the paper level as she cuts it. She really enjoys this book.

  21. Allison M.

2.5 year old loved it, learned how to cutI bought this for my 2.5 year old with no cutting experience when I bought her 5 year old brother the My First Book of Cutting. The first page was a disaster, she couldn’t hold her scissors, couldn’t make them open and close and couldn’t make them advance on the paper. Two days later, she’s finished the whole book and cutting independently. The book’s fun pictures were easy to remove and appealed to my daughter. She was very proud of the objects she cut out from this book. When I tried to draw shapes on plain paper after the book was completed, she was less interested in cutting, and asked for another cutting book instead. There is a completion certificate at the end and a bonus wipe clean cardboard page. I will be purchasing more in this series.

  22. J. Whitehead

You child will thank youKumon has some of the best workbooks for children I have seen yet. My son, 4 years old, is working through this book in conjunction with the Kumon’s My Book of Pasting and he couldn’t be happier. I introduced scissors to him at the young age of 2, so a few projects in this book seem a little easy for him but I believe when it comes to scissor cutting that those skills can and need to be fine tuned. My daughter is almost 2 and she even likes to participate, granted she is basically just cutting small lines around the outside edge of the page but I think it builds a strong foundation for enjoying a range of school required skills.I couldn’t recommend these books enough and I look forward to buying the Lets Fold series… also Kumon books are cheaper here then local book stores.

  23. Evemar

Mejor libro para cortarMi hijo utilizo este libro para practicar y le fue muy beneficiosoExcelente tamaño y calidad en las hojas

  24. Camille

Not the bestI like the idea of this work book but find it to be too small, also perforated pages would definitely be an improvement.

  25. Lauren

Super helpful! My son did not know how to use scissors and would go crazy and tear pages, but just one time using this and he has astronomically improved! It progresses so nicely and he did 10 activities in one sitting! Definitely will look for more of their books!

  26. Jason & Jacqueline

I would buy this book right now, if I were you.BEST. BOOK. EVER. My son is almost three and could cut paper all day long with this book. The activities are sooo cute, challenging, but definitely doable. I hang them up in our house when he’s done because he’s so proud! Like my review for the Let’s Sticker & Paste book, I plan on buying this book over and over because I don’t think he will ever get tired of the activities! I would like to add that after trying other cutting practice books, that I love these best because the pages are small enough to handle and don’t flop all over the place when children are trying to cut. The pages are also very sturdy!

  27. Mother of 2

My daughter loved this! This entertained my daughter for hours. She loved the Designs and it really helped improve her use of scissors.

  28. Sierra D

So well made!My daughter loves this so much! She is 4 and she will do like 4 pages because she loves to see the next page. Many of the pages can turn into something cute with a little tape or glue. I am a kinder teacher and only wish I could buy enough for a classroom to start the year. Great product!!!

  29. EY

Love this! Highly recommend. The designs are really smart. Kids don’t feel it’s work at all, just fun play! The paper is like magazine glossy paper. Easy for kids to hold and cut. The designs start from straight lines to zig zag, lines with small curves then big curves, circles etc.

  30. Pseudorandom

Fun and stress-freeMy son (3.75) started with the Kumon “My First Book of Cutting” and loved it, so I bought this one. This book is much easier than that one, and at first appears boring. But we found it actually as interesting (sometimes more interesting!) because you can create toys / shapes that are fun to play with but not difficult to cut out, such as the sheep and butterfly cages. “My First Book of Cutting” ultimately moves to very complex shapes and repetitive, challenging cutting patterns that my son wanted to skip because they were frustrating, but this one keeps it fairly basic. It’s also easier on the parents because it offers more instruction and because cutting the worksheet from the book is much easier (in “My First Book of Cutting”, the worksheet needs to be cut very close to the binding).

  31. Carol Hansen

Granddaughter and grandson love thisMy daughter likes having activities that keep her kids happy while she does meal prep. They love cutting practice so it’s a win, win.

  32. acloudconnected

Great, but advances a little too quicklyMy son loves this, but I do feel that it advances a little too quickly. Would be nice to have a couple of each “level” before moving on to more/more complex cuts. (He’s an absolute beginner with scissors and he’s a lefty).

  33. A. Miller

Buy it!My 2 YO absolutely loves this. If I would allow it he would go through the book in an entire sitting. Great purchase and good for fine motor skills. Highly recommend!

  34. sarzsa

Fun for older toddlersIt was definitely way too difficult for my 23 month old. But my 4 year old totally loved it! She had a ton of fun cutting everything and her cutting skills really improved. Definitely worth it!

  35. thejem

My toddler is loving it!My toddler is asking to do all of the school things that her big sister does. This is a great way to offer her the experience without having to prep. It is ready when she is! It is engaging for her. She likes the colorful pictures and is learning language skills and sound formation when we talk about what she sees, but also how hold scissors and make them work for her. Recommend.

  36. Sil Ort

Great little book! Not your usual 8×11 work book but it’s great! We gave it to our son (along with age appropriate scissors) as a gift after his fist day of pre-k and he loved it! He was so excited and could probably finish the entire book in one go… he had already been introduced to cutting but now we upgraded his scissors and this book wasn’t hard at all for him. It was a hit. Plenty of pages! From basic lines to circular ones. I definitely recommend!!!

  37. Kassie

Easy to useSuper easy and fun for my toddler. Great for skill building and interesting pictures for my kiddo.

  38. Amazon Customer

Good learning bookMy almost 3 year old enjoys cutting with this book. It’s about half the size of a sheet of printer paper, but that may be more manageable for little hands.

  39. Amazon Customer

Just another cutting book but small in sizeI homeschooled my children and now have grandchildren. This is a good basic cutting book but be ready for the size to be about half a page instead of a full page sized work book. Just another cutting book to throw away when they are done. I have yet to find a work book that I can say is totally WORTH the money.

  40. School Librarian

Perfect for pre KLearning to use scissors is a universal pre K skill. This book is colorful and has interesting cutouts for little hands. Good quality paper that doesn’t tear easily.

  41. Albert N Gonzalez

Great book to work on fine motor skillsThis was a great tool for my son who needs work on fine motor skills. He worked on one page per day and by the end of the book he was zooming right along! My son did use adaptive scissors but I’m sure regular ones are efficient As well

  42. M. J. Spackman

My 2-year-old excelled with this book. This book was a big hit with my son. The cutting exercises are all in full color, and when you are done, you have a toy of sorts to play with. Some of the cutting exercises became greeting cards for grandparents. My son insisted on sleeping with, and feeding the blue bird, that one was his favorite. I loved taking the book to church and letting him quietly focus on cutting while I got to listen to the speakers. I will buy this book for all of my children, and I’m glad that I found it with my oldest. A made a video of him doing one of the last exercises when he was 32 months. It’s an youtube, here’s the link: […].

Highly recommendHighly recommend very good books and quality of book is awesome

  44. Bananapeel57

great for teachinggreat for helping teach my boy how to cut paper!

  45. ceniscocenis

Builds confidence, holds interestMy 4yo completed this in a few hours. However, although not all the cuts were perfect, it was a great confidence-building exercise. Also, it was something that could keep attention while I got a few things done. It’s rare that we find learning exercises they actually want to do. It’s a great way to get them excited about other cut-out projects. This book seems to be preferred over the other cut-n-paste learning book that we started. I think it’s because of the fun shapes and an activity they can intuitively do on their own. Will buy again!

  46. C. Jenkins

Great practice, but probably for age 3 or higherNot sure about yours of course, but my 2.5 year old can’t properly hold a set of scissors. (we bought the Alex 2 pack of entirely plastic safety scissors for a great price on Amazon to use with this book) We’ll be setting it aside for when her little hands are large enough to be able to use the scissors with one hand, instead of two. But the work in the book looks super fun for a little one, practicing for preschool. We really love all the other Kumon books in series.

  47. Purse Lover

Great for toddlers practicing patience and focusMy daughter and son love this book. The pages are really creative with the designs and the way you cut the paper. The pages have directions at the top of each for how you make the item on the page. You cut along the grey lines up until the star (stopping point) or all the way through. You can make things like animals playing tug-of-war to a tiger opening and closing his mouth. This is a great book for those that are starting to use scissors (toddler age) and is a good way to test patience and focus.

  48. Cassandra

Too smallI really had high expectations for this being my first scissor book for my 5 year old but I did not like it its soooo small it was extremely hard for her to try to cut and actually had to figure out not good directions at all

perfect for little handsI was suspicious but the number of reviews persuaded me. Absolutely, this is good. It is very instructional for a non intuitive parent (“give your child praise”…duh), and they have their toddlers pegged. My daughter shouted with accomplishment when she cut her first kitty whiskers. Quality of paper is excellent and so is the art. Not all are basic, they are progressive. In the first 5, by cutting straight lines, they make a puzzle, a rocket they tape together, and you tape together some animals playing tug of war. Whatever side of tape gives first looses. So creative as well. Worth it, and make copies!

Nice workbook to practice cutting skillsNice workbook to practice cutting skills. I only wish it had a few more beginner pages. I feel like the skill level jumps up a bit fast but then again my sons not even 3 and doesn’t quite understand that he needs to cute in the direction of the arrow. We will keep on working on this workbook.

Small pages are easier to manueverThis is the second paper cutting Kumon book I have gotten for my 4 year old. I started with

My First Book Of Cutting (Kumon Workbooks)

, but wish I had started with this one because the pages are half the size. My son had a much easier time learning how to turn the paper while cutting with this book. Before the Kumon books he wasn’t interested in using scissors at all, now he’s always asking for more pages to cut. He actually blew through this whole book in a few days, but it was a lot of fun and he’s improved so much from it.

  52. Patrick M.

momof3I bought this book for Christmas for my 3 year old who wants to do school like his 2 older brothers. I must say it was a hit! My 3 year old boy cried everyday when I made him stop at cutting out 5 pictures. He always wanted to do more! This book is really fun. The thing I am impressed with most about these books is the level of creativity in such a simple book for little kids. These are a smaller size book, but there are a lot of pages. We will definitely be buying more of these books!

  53. danielle

YesThis is great for my 3 yr old. She’s doing amazing with it

  54. J Harris

Great little bookFun book that builds up to more complicated cuts… each activity is something the kids can play with after… my little guy was so proud after each one!

  55. B&V H

Excellent scissors practice! Teacher recommend!Excellent scissors practice, begins easily and works up to a more skill-requiring cut, some even make puzzles. My children loved them!

  56. Daniel Glasgow

Best for four year oldsMy homeschool preschooler loves this brand and in particular this book. She wasn’t ready at two or three but at four she takes to it like a duck to water.

  57. Amazon Customer

Great resource and Easy to useIt’s easy to remove pages from the book and the I like how it slowly gets harder . It’s a great resource so kids get comfortable holding and using scissors. Most pages have a puzzle to solve after they cut on the line which is a nice addition.

  58. s.saul

Heads up – it’s a small bookA good starter book for my almost 3 year old to practice cutting. Only downside is the book is very small. You have to cut the top part of each page (that’s where the parent directions are) to give your child the bottom portion of the page. Makes the page smaller and I guess more manageable for younger kids.

  59. Crys

Great for beginnersCute artwork and clever activities keep them wanting to do just one more.

  60. megha s.

    Worth buyingGreat to learn

  61. Amazon Customer

Great starter for my little oneNice little activity for new scissor user. My 2yo is enjoying the new experience. I personally would have liked some sort of parents example page. I like to walk through new stages of skill with demonstrations without destroying her pages.

  62. Daniel

Great book to help practice cuttingThis was a cute gift from Santa. My 4 year old loves to cut and is enjoying this cutting book very much. Would purchase again.

  63. Julie Rozanes

  64. Clean With Liezl

Good quality! The quality of the paper they used is thicker than most paper this type of product use. I like it and my son as well.

  65. Kristen Bowlby

but this little book is awesome! Each page is fun and a little craft …I am not usually overly impressed by kids products, but this little book is awesome! Each page is fun and a little craft activity. Some of them include cutting then taping together to make something. My 3 yr old feels so accomplished and proud when he cuts, tapes and assembles a little craft all by himself! This is definitely a book I’ll buy for my younger children when they are ready.

  66. BrittLee

buy it!!perfect for my 3 year old and 4 year old.

  67. older and wiser

Great idea and would recommend given the above thoughtsHas mix of difficult and very simple cutting pages. I think in general would be more for a full 3yr old up to 5yr depending on abilities. I dont think most 2 yr old cut do many of the harder pages. Great idea and would recommend given the above thoughts.

  68. Amazon Customer

Great quality paperGreat quality paper and instructions. We went through it quick. Easy for age-appropriate kids to comprehend and use.

  69. Kelml4

  71. Kathy

Thank you for this adorable and helpful bookGrandson was not interested in cutting until we got this book. Now he’s loving it! The idea that he can actually make things perks his interest. He’s enjoying cutting now. What a difference! Thank you for this adorable and helpful book!

  72. Murphy

Bought as a gift It looks very niceLooks nice…bought as a gift.

  73. C. Watson

Good ideaMy child likes this book. He takes his time and only does two pages at a time. I guess I thought the book was bigger for the price. I do like that you can keep the pieces to play with after you’ve completed the cutting part. I do like how it gets progressively harder. Wish the book was larger and/or thicker.

  74. starma58

Helped teach my granddaughter to cutMy 3-year old granddaughter was starting to learn to cut and LOVES this book. There are progressively more difficult pages to cut. An adult cuts out the page and the child follows the wide gray lines, stopping at the star. Her skills have really improved.

  75. MF

Love them!My newly 3 year old asks for “cutting school” almost every day. She loves these books!

  76. CynS

Build dexterity skillsMy five year old granddaughter loves this book. You can start kids pretty early in age to learn how to cut, so this is more practice for her versus beginning skill set. This is a great exercise for dexterity skills.

  77. mama

She is really good with scissors nowMy daughter learned how to use this at age 2. She is really good with scissors now. Does make a huge mess, but happy she is learning in the process. Wish it had more pages!

  78. Joyce

Kumon is the bestExcellent learning tools. The books have clear parent instructions and my 3 1/2 year old grandson absolutely loves them. It makes for great quality time and he looks forward to working in these books. instead of candy or ice cream, these workbooks have become his “treat”. This book teaches kids how to hold the scissors and how to use scissors to cut simple lines. Colorful pictures. Excellent starter book for learning how to cut

  79. KS

Great Activity Book!Excellent for my 3 year old! She loves choosing her pages and practicing her cutting skills. Very happy with this purchase!

  80. wolfie

Good skills practice, small formatLike other Kumon workbooks, this one has great graphics and clear instructions on how to lead your child through the skill building. What I did not expect was that the workbook is half the size of the other Kumon workbooks I have seen. Instead of an 8″x11″ format, this one is approximately 8″x6.5″ and opens like a Mad Libs book or a steno notebook, as opposed to opening like a book or magazine. I think paying full price for half a workbook is too much. At a lower price this is a 5 star item, but right now it’s only a three.

  81. Amazon Customer

Such a fun way to learnMy 3 and 4 year old love this book! Such a fun way to learn

  82. Ariel Jankord

Mesmerized 2 year old!We bought this as a gift for our favorite 2 1/2 year old. She was absolutely in awe! She was mesmerized for an hour with cutting the different shapes/patterns/activities. Her mom told us that everyone was asking where we bought this when they saw how engaged she was!

  83. Mommy of Two

Great for a 3 year oldI brought this book to show my daughter how to use scissors properly. We do a couple of projects each night and I can telling that her cutting skill is improving. The projects do get harder as the book progresses, so your child might need more assistance as well as additional instructions from you. My daughter and I are having a great time doing the different projects together. She actually looks forward to doing them every day. The projects are fun and very colorful.

Very basic. For beginners only. It’s cute but way too basic for my 3 year old. Better for beginners. Several pages are just for cutting one straight line…

  87. Stevie Poston

My two year old loved getting this for her birthday and always asks to …Very cute little book. My two year old loved getting this for her birthday and always asks to cut new pictures. I don’t think she can do all of the exercises at this point since she just started using scissors but it’s a nice book she can grow with.

  90. BYoder

Great practiceWhen we had preschool conferences for our 4 year old last year, we were informed she lacked expertise in cutting. I ordered this so she could practice over the summer and it has helped so much. She’s practicing cutting, but doesn’t realize it because she’s having fun checking out the pictures. I know I’ll be purchasing another for our two year old to use in the near future.

  91. Shanshan Z.

  92. Amazon Customer

WonderfulMy 5 year old loved this workbook.

  93. MillertimeUSNA

Scissor skillsThese are great for cutting practice. My three year old can’t wait to pick a design to cut everyday. It’s pricy for cutting practice but he likes to do it so much it’s worth it.

  94. JP_jeanna

Very cute pictures and great practiceThis provides GREAT practice for cutting with scissors. The pictures progress from basic straight lines to zigzags and spirals. The pages are not perforated, but there is a line to cut to detach the pages from the rest of the book. Our son has really enjoyed practicing, and would probably have gone through the whole book by now if we had let him.

  95. ginger730

Just OKBought this based on rave reviews, but 4 year old isn’t really interested. A bit over her head in concept as each page has different directions on what and where things should be cut. She’s more interested in cut and paste pages built on a theme. Graphics are well done though.

  96. megnh

Useful and beautiful colorsA very fun book! After the kids cut, they paste the pieces onto a larger piece of paper. The paper has a nice weight and beautiful colors.

  99. Cassie F

3 year old daughter LOVES this!My 3 year old daughter loves this activity book. As soon as we gave it to her, she started doing “projects” and didn’t want to stop. There are some that are way too easy, but the difficulty increases and you go farther in the book. Well worth the money and a great tool to teach manual dexterity while having fun.

  100. Lindsey Wolfe

.Smaller than I thought it was going to be, but that’s my fault for not paying attention to the listed dimensions. 🙂

Great Product! What a great little book! The cutting activities start out very simple and gradually progress. My (almost 5 year old) daughter loves cutting and gets really excited to do pages out of this book. She would probably do them all in one sitting if I let her (there are 39, I believe). I think I will be buying another one for my 2 1/2 year old!

  106. Agutie

Good item for the price tooMy little guy loves his cut along book. Keeps him busy without need of tv or computer. Pages are not flimsy either. Good item for the price too.

  107. Another Jenny

Develops hand strength while maintaining their attentionMy 4 year old is a little behind in some of his fine motor skills, so I purchased this book so he could build hand strength and develop cutting skills. He loves the pictures and that he’s actually made something interested after he’s finished cutting. Highly recommend.

  108. Rebelfair

3 year old really likes itVibrant and fun pictures. It’s smaller, 6×9 inches maybe or 5×7, and then you cut the lower part of the paper off for your youngster to cut into. So the paper is a small square and they can hold it pretty easily.

  109. Kayla

couldn’t live with out these booksPerfect my 2 1/2yo son loves his lessons with kumons books this one is more challenging but that’s the point to let them learn :), he’s cut a straight line with my help and was sooo proud etc, we chose the Maped kidi cut security scissors and they work perfectly together for a great learning play time!

Age appropriate and funMy daughter is 29 months old and learning how to cut. This book starts easy and gradually gets more challenging. She is really enjoying it. I try to let her only do one page a day as the book recommends but she always wants to do more.

  112. Bre

Great for developing fine motor skills!I bought this book to use with my Pre-K students. They absolutely LOVE cutting these pieces! The progression of cutting patterns is slow enough to get children used to the motions of using a scissors and fast enough to keep them interested. The puzzle- type pictures are super cute, too. I love this book and so do my students!

  113. Elizabeth the Mom

Another great book by Kumon for small learning sessions .Very cute activities , however it would be nice to have dotted lines so toddlers knows can tell clearly where to cut .

Perfect activity for my toddler and builds useful and timely skills she needsWe love these cutting activities. My daughter loved the challenges. She was a little frustrated the first day because she couldn’t cut all the way across the page, but now she’s giving everything in sight a trim with her new skills. And it’s helped with her writing strength skills. Thanks!

  118. Sydney Y

Motivates cuttingMy little one loves to cut because of this activity book. And cutting takes practice so this helps with his scissor skills!

  119. naz

I’ve seen betterIt’s a good product but pages need perforation. Also, some of the pages are just down right hard to follow. Each page is about 1/2 of a regular sheet of paper.

  120. Jacque C.

It’s a great quality, although I wish the pages were perforated …Starting home education with my youngest. He is excited about this book but will take practice! It’s a great quality, although I wish the pages were perforated because doing this lesson would be easier with a flat page on the table

  121. Jennifer

Lots of funI love all of these little books! They are great for my 5 year who needs fine motor skill practice and for my 2 year old as well. They start off simple and get more complex as they master skills plus they are so cute I have to resist to them myself 🙂

Disappointing.I read so many good reviews so I was excited to try this but I was disappointed. I have curly color treated hair which is pretty healthy due to deep conditioning and general care. I was looking for something to help tame some frizz and fly aways but this did not work. It did nothing for my hair….absolutely nothing.

best cutting curriculum on the market – Let’s Cut PaperNote: This review is about Let’s Cut Paper. I compare this book to the others in the series at the bottom of this review. If you are homeschooling a 2-year-old AND do not have time to create a cutting curriculum, then BUY this book. In fact, buy all the Kumon cutting books for 2-year-olds. Sort all of the projects by ability level (which is not too hard since all the books seem to present the projects from simplest to hardest). Then walla – you have enough projects to engage your tiny tot in cutting for months to come. (Personally, I feel the scalloped edges in the Amazing Animals book is one of the hardest skills to do so put that last.) Yes, repeating similar projects helps tiny tots build confidence and master skills…. that is why you really should get multiple books in this series. Now I have to admit that I was not so thrilled with the curriculum at first. I looked at these books on numerous occasions and decided against buying them. Why? The books seemed too simplistic and too repetitive and surely I could come up with better cutting projects on my own…. Well I have completely changed my mind because I realized three things: 1. as a homeschooling parent, I do not have the time to re-invent the wheel to teach EVERY single skill nor for EVERY single subject area to my child – I need to select some educational projects that are ready to go as is for ALL of our sanity, 2. tiny tots are learning a lot BUT they do so slowly, with a lot of practice, and by baby steps – a book is simple is probably on the right track especially for kids that are learning scissors for the first time. and 3. it is best not to mix too many skills sets into the same project so having these cut-only projects is actually a very good thing, especially because the end projects look really nice which will boost the child’s confidence more than any project I could design on my own. All the projects I came up with had painting, cutting, gluing, etc. all in one project which is a bit much for the littlest of tots – if they can master each of those skills separately then put it all together in a single project, that is a much better way to teach. SO I now feel this is the best cutting curriculum on the market for tiny tots.Another great plus is that once the projects are completed, many can use them for other things. Some would make great puppets – just add a popsickle stick on the back. Others could be used in games/ teaching boards/ sorting activities/ projects etc. – just add a magnet or velcro to the back or even laminate. Some pieces could even by used in pretend play (like adding the sheep to the play farm). So these items are not necessarily make and toss… well unless your creative child decides to cut up something beyond re-usability….How cutting is scaffold-ed in this book:0. I would start with the child cutting regular paper to get used to the action of cutting straight lines. This is not specified in the book, but I feel its essential.1. Snip short straight lines to make whiskers (i suggest you snip on both sides of the whisker to make it pop forward for a 3D effect). I would have the parent guide how to get the scissors into the correct position for the first few, so the child gets used to the idea…. then let the child do the rest of the whiskers on their own (even if its not perfect, let them build confidence and help them improve).2. Single cuts across the page to create a mini-puzzle (usually two-pieces).3. Cut out corners then fold to make a 3-D effect (like a fence around sheep).4. Cut out appendages and fold forward for a 3-D effect.5. Cut out zigzag straight lines to make a spiral or open/shut mouth fun.6. Cut out curves and wavy lines to make a spiral or open/shut mouth fun.7. Cut a geometric piece out of a picture.8. Cut out an object by cutting around its edge.9. Completion certificate is included in the book.Let’s Cut Paper: Amazing Animals – repeats a lot of the same skills but all new images. Adds in some harder elements: cutting out scalloped edges, cutting out an image in the scene to fold upward as a pop-up, and cutting out even harder edges to animals..More Let’s Cut Paper: repeats a lot of the same skills but all new images. Focuses more on larger scenes instead of just animals and faces. Many of images to cut out at the end are food related and are not just animal/faces like in the previous two books. I loved making doors to open, but Kumon did not give a page to glue behind the doors, so when the door is opened, nothing is there.Let’s Cut Paper: Food Fun – I did not like this one very much. Yes it had more cut and fold up options, but it just was not as engaging to me.

very smallI thought this would be a regular size Kumon book, however it is very small. I do use it for my 2 year old and it is a good size for her I just wish it was a full sized book.

20 days later my 4 year old has confidence in cutting all on her own!We love this book!I wanted something to add to her skill Development bin for our homeschool. This is our first scissor practice book we purchased. My daughter is 4 and we started this book approximately 20days ago and she just completed her last pages. The book is a little small than I originally thought, but if you think about it,it’s perfect for the little ones to hold. The book itself is about 8″ by 6″ to give you an idea of the size. The pictures are beautiful and vibrant in my opinion and def got my little one interested and looking forward to cutting. Before we started this book she was already practicing cutting straight lines only and we only practiced here and there with the straight lines with just paper at home. When we started this book 20 days ago,we did 2 pages at a time.I gave her instructions on how to do it,to cut on the gray lines and stop at the little white star. She picked up quick and I only had to help her a few times with the initial curving worksheets and the ones that had straight lines combined with curves or demonstrating how to turn her hand and when cutting the spider web page.Other than that she picked up quick on how to cut and I would definitely recommend. She loved to play with the what am I worksheets.(they get to put their face in the square they cut out tongues the animal)I definitely would not recommend just leaving them to cut on their own since this is a book for them to learn how to cut.My daughter absolutely enjoyed this book and we just placed an order for their other scissor cutting books in this set as well.It looks like there are 4 scissor practice books in this set and we excited to get the next one.I would definitely recommend maybe using this after your little one can at least cut straight lines so they won’t be frustrated and are comfortable with working with scissors. My daughter never got frustrated with this book and looked forward to doing her 2 pages a day that on the last day she wanted to cut 7 pages. They also have a certificate of completion to award your little one with and she was very excited and you can tell she felt accomplished for completing her workbook. They also have a dry erase board in back for them to use.Definitely recommend!

Absolutely fabulous beginning workbookPerfectly done! Starts easy and gets progressively harder in developmentally appropriate sequence. My daughter loves it and it really helped her.

Cute and effective book.We started this book when my daughter turned 3. It was her introduction to hold scissors and cutting. It has been almost year now and we use this book on and off. Today, I am proud to say that she can cut straight/curve, long/short lines with little problem. We have approx. 5 pages remaining in this book. To my surprise, it is the folding that gets on her nerve. For example, after she cuts the octopus’ arms, she needs to fold them to make them look lively and I am afraid that the folds are too tiny for her. She got a bit frustrated at folding the perfect little lines to make the arms dance. Other than that, I think I would recommend this book for toddlers and do a page or two when your child is ready and able. She seems to enjoy it more when I do not make it look like a ‘practice’; just for fun. The other surprise is that if you save the pages, the animals like the bear and the cat can actually stand up on the table and you can play pretend with them like puppets. Very cute.

He loves to cut paper- quite horribly chewed up likeI am teaching my son, who just turned 3, to learn how to cut paper. He already have been playing simple puzzle games. He loves to cut paper- quite horribly chewed up like, he also love rockets. I was happily surprised that he can cut and arrange the cut pieces and put them together like a puzzle. Needless to say, my son happily cut the rocket page out and put the pieces together correctly. We finished 6 pages in one learning session at home. My son loves this book. My husband thinks it’s a waste of money but my son is very happy and proud of every cutting project he completes!

  240. Beka

Very bright and colorful. Very inviting for children. …Very bright and colorful. Very inviting for children. And the scissor skills practice in this book is very appropriate and helpful.

My 4 year old son loved this workbookMy 4 year old son loved this workbook. It gradually increased his skill level and he was very motivated to do it each day. I limited him to one or two per day, so he could improve over time. He’s way more skilled at cutting than his preschool classmates, due to this practice book.

  242. Suzie Glaser

Great for learning thoughMy daughter is 3 and can cut the straights lines (kind of) but the curved lines become difficult. Great for learning though. Lot’s of paper waste- I think I’ll make them into confetti.

Great book – Fun and EducationalAwesome book. My kids loved it and it was very colorful and fun.

Cut more paper! My son, age 2 years 2 months, loves this book. Like other reviewers, I feared he was too young to use scissors, but was swayed by the “ages 2 and up” on the cover. He had a hard time using the scissors at first, and I thought the book was progressing too quickly and he would not be able to do the next level of “project.” However, it seems to be progressing at just the right speed, so he can learn the activity without getting bored. I am amazed by what my son is able to do each time he picks up this book. He is really into this book, spending up to 45 minutes intently trying to cut the paper. I even use it as a bribe “if you do x, we can play with the scissors book.”So far he has loved the “Let’s Sticker and Paste” book as well. The “Let’s Color” is not as interesting to him, and is easily replaced by a coloring book.

  250. C. Burks

Fabulous! This book is so colorful and fun, my almost five year old doesn’t ever want to stop cutting paper. I have to limit him to about 8 per day, just so he doesn’t use up the whole book in a day or two. He actually said today, “I want to do cutting projects instead of playing on the iPad.” WOW! That should say something right there. Great price too.

  251. chadwbe

Perfect way to entertain a 3 year oldThis book, like many of the Kumon workbooks, will teach and entertain your child with a minimum of parental interference. The hardest part is choosing the appropriate scissors: the Fiskars for toddlers are way too sharp, in my opinion, and the Melissa & Doug/Crayola variants are a nearly impossible to cut with, although my son still loves to work with them. There is a Fiskars Pre-school pair with spring action that seems to strike to right balance and has the large finger openings so he can get some leverage. The book itself teaches kids to cut patterns and lines and will set them up for many hours of fun with construction paper.

  252. mama cat

Simply amazing! Fun book that builds skill and coordination.I bought this book for my 4 year old who has been asking to use scissors for some time. I really felt she was too young to use them, but when I saw the book was recommended for ages 2 and up, I decided to let her try.The book begins with very simple activities and slowly becomes more difficult. The illustrations are fun and colorful. There are instructions for parents that focus on positive reinforcement and ideas to keep your child interested when challenged. Within two weeks my child was cutting curves, sharp angles, difficult shapes and spirals. I was amazed! There is a certificate of achievement for the child when the book has been finished. This is a great book to help your child learn to cut paper, and to build self confidence.

  253. B. Dalby

Perfect “learn to cut” book for toddlers!Cute and a great learning tool! My (just-turned) 3-yr-old enjoys this activity book very much! I would definitely recommend this for toddlers.

Can’t wait to use these with my daughter tooMy son received several Kumon First Steps books for his third birthday. These are a wonderful product. I have given some as presents and I will be using them with my daughter. My son looked forward to using each one of these workbooks in a way that he has not with other workbooks. I highly recommend Kumon First Steps.

  255. Esther

Buy left-handed scissors for left-handed children.I’m cheating — I haven’t seen the book…but I just want to say, if you have a left-handed child, they need left-handed scissors! Many scissors say “for right or left-handed.” IT’S A LIE! Take a ‘regular’ pair of scissors with your left hand and try to cut along a line. Because of the way the blades are stacked, you lose sight of the line at the last minute and cut about 1/8th of an inch away from the line…it’s incredibly frustrating and it’s the reason my lefty son tends to hold righty scissors an a really contorted position. His cutting skills improved tremendously when I bought him a pair of truly left-handed scissors (which reverse the blades, not just change the shape of the handle). Search online — there’s a website that sells products made especially for left-handed people. OK, I’ll get off my soapbox now. 🙂

  256. Jack

Well thought out!I got this for my 2.5 yr old son. He has some scissor experience, but not with cutting on lines. He absolutely loves the little projects in this book. We have even started using the pictures that he cuts to make cards for loved ones.It is a good challenge for him and the brightly colored pictures hold his attention well. I love how the pictures gradually get a little harder to cut out. I highly recommend this book.

  257. happy shopper

Excellent preschool activity book!My 4 year old son loved this book. He did every page within a few weeks! Its more than just cutting… you cut things out or parts of things on page to make clever little things. I 100% recommend this. We also ordered Lets Fold, which we like and also give five stars. But, Let’s Cut, is the best by far.

  258. Char

KumonI saw these at my local home school store and picked this book up for my three year old. She loved it. She isn’t one to keep still for long, but she enjoyed this book for an hour. My almost-five-year old loved it just as much and in one night they almost went through the whole book!!! Awesome. Will continue to use with them and my soon-to-be two-year old.

Great book!!!My daughter loves this books!!!Even though Lets cut paper is a little challeging for her(she is 33m), we love it. She asks for it every day. With the lets color she can do it alone, but with the lets cut, I need to help her a little bit. Its fuuuun!!!!Iessa mom of Amanda.

Fun play with kumon workbook seriesI am a dad of a 2 years old boy. This workbook has a simple and fun material which is exactly for kids around 2. I felt it’s a bit pricy for what it has, but I am generally satisfied with this book since it’s hard to find this kind of books for this age.

  263. Amazon_Consumer

Fun and fine motor development!Got these as stocking stuffers for my sons (4.5 and almost 3) and they love them! They have wanted to do several pages a day and there’s still a ton to go. So awesome to see how their skills have progressed in a short time- it really builds the skill at a perfect pace that is engaging and challenging without being frustrating. My 4.5 year old is adding extra challenge to his by cutting all the way around the picture after he does the activity. Will definitely be purchasing more of this series!

  266. NK80

My child enjoyed this book !My child’s favorite of the four books in the series – they really enjoyed building their cutting skills ! Bright and vibrant pictures and I liked that the pages were thicker not cheap or flimsy.

Very cute and good qualityMy 3 year old loves this the only con was that the pages are hard to cut out because the book is not very flexible- it’s easier to use an exacto knife to cut the page out for your child.

these books are amazing. The content is not only interesting but also …I had ordered this as well as a few more Kumon books for my 3 year old kid. My idea was to give him more options to learn. To say the least, these books are amazing. The content is not only interesting but also laid out very thoughtfully and clear. I’m assured now that any long holidays for my kid will be joyful as well as fruitful. I can spend time with him with these books. I can get him to concentrate more on spending time with books. Honestly put, these are better than the school books that my kid has.Even if your kid just completes these books and not worry about other school books, you can feel safe that he will be in a good position to get into the mainstream schooling. This is the first I ordered these books and believe me, I will keep ordering them as long as my kid enjoys spending time with them. The only gripe I have is the fact that the time taken to ship these books is very long. Amazon has informed in advance that these will take more time to ship. But as a customer, I would prefer that I get them as early as I can. But I cannot honestly take away any stars as it was informed in advance. But the quality of packaging is perfect and the books are in mint condition when I received them. I should still say Thanks amazon for making them available at my place.

Noticeable increase in skillMy daughter TORE through this book; I’ll be getting her the rest of the series, as it’s done her so much good. She’s never had much patience for sit-down work, so she was behind a lot of other children with these kinds of fine-motor tasks. For some reason, these activities held her attention and she’s since started to invent her own little craft activities, using her scissors and cardboard or coloured paper.

  284. Van City

Lots of fun for beginnersGreat book of little cutting activities to teach scissor control to young ones. They are designed to be done with parental supervision, and parents should first cut the activity page out of the book, before the child does the cutting activity. Each activity is self-rewarding — the cuts either create something, reveal something or make something move.Paper quality is excellent. The paper is thick enough to be handled by a young child just learning to use scissors, and to not rip easily. The pictures are bright and colourful, and the activities are creative. The activities get progressively more challenging throughout the book.My 3.5-year-old loves doing the cutting, and loves playing with his creations afterward.

  285. Didgeridoo 2020

allows children to enhance their fine motor skills independentlyGreat workbook. It allowed my 4-year old to improve her paper curring skills systematically and independently. She started with having difficulties cutting straight lines to having no problems cutting curves and angles within a few days. She also really enjoyed the cutting. A great workbook. very good activity bookI bought this for my 2-year-old son. It’s very cute and the pictures are colourful and interesting. My son’s cutting skills aren’t great yet, and I actually think this paper is just a little too thick and high-quality for him. It’s not that easy to cut with an all-plastic pair of children’s scissors. Overall we l like this book and I think it will be useful for developing cutting skills.

Cortar y montar! Aprenden jugando a formar pequeñas manualudades.

I’m conflicted!I hate this book. My son loves this book. It’s great for him, he’s really developed his fine motor skills, but now he wants to cut up every piece of paper he sees. Storybook? Snip! Junk mail? Snip! Bills? Snip! Paycheck? Double snip! But I recommend it. It’s great for the kids.

  302. Birgit Sch.

Do buy this bookMy 3 year old child loved doing this….u need to buy a child safety scissor (plastic)…which is safe for kids …it cuts only paper…in the beginning I helped her later on she did by herself …..though not so perfect cuttings but improved her motar skills….now by using this book n scissor she can hold pencil n write more neatly.

Great! This activity book is great! Kumon has a great way of engaging my son. Each page of this book is a little removable activity page.

  396. GY

Easy to handle for kidsI actually like the sizing of this booklet a little over the large 8×11 book because it’s easier for kids to maneuver and handle. The content is different than the big cutting book which is good, since one other book we got had redundant contents.

  410. hannah’smommy

  411. Amazon Customer

pretty goodPros: Cute pictures, clear lines, simple enough for young kids but does get more complexcons: small, I wish it was full size paper. weird shiny paper that looks nice but is not ideal for cutting, it should be thick, easy to hold paper.

  413. Amanda M.

CuteI love the thickness and sturdiness of the pages so my toddler is not struggling to keep the paper level as she cuts it. She really enjoys this book.

  416. Evemar

Mejor libro para cortarMi hijo utilizo este libro para practicar y le fue muy beneficiosoExcelente tamaño y calidad en las hojas

  417. Camille

Not the bestI like the idea of this work book but find it to be too small, also perforated pages would definitely be an improvement.

  418. Lauren

Super helpful! My son did not know how to use scissors and would go crazy and tear pages, but just one time using this and he has astronomically improved! It progresses so nicely and he did 10 activities in one sitting! Definitely will look for more of their books!

  420. Mother of 2

My daughter loved this! This entertained my daughter for hours. She loved the Designs and it really helped improve her use of scissors.

  421. Sierra D

So well made!My daughter loves this so much! She is 4 and she will do like 4 pages because she loves to see the next page. Many of the pages can turn into something cute with a little tape or glue. I am a kinder teacher and only wish I could buy enough for a classroom to start the year. Great product!!!

  422. EY

Love this! Highly recommend. The designs are really smart. Kids don’t feel it’s work at all, just fun play! The paper is like magazine glossy paper. Easy for kids to hold and cut. The designs start from straight lines to zig zag, lines with small curves then big curves, circles etc.

  424. Carol Hansen

Granddaughter and grandson love thisMy daughter likes having activities that keep her kids happy while she does meal prep. They love cutting practice so it’s a win, win.

  425. acloudconnected

Great, but advances a little too quicklyMy son loves this, but I do feel that it advances a little too quickly. Would be nice to have a couple of each “level” before moving on to more/more complex cuts. (He’s an absolute beginner with scissors and he’s a lefty).

  426. A. Miller

Buy it!My 2 YO absolutely loves this. If I would allow it he would go through the book in an entire sitting. Great purchase and good for fine motor skills. Highly recommend!

  427. sarzsa

Fun for older toddlersIt was definitely way too difficult for my 23 month old. But my 4 year old totally loved it! She had a ton of fun cutting everything and her cutting skills really improved. Definitely worth it!

Recommend.

  430. Kassie

Easy to useSuper easy and fun for my toddler. Great for skill building and interesting pictures for my kiddo.

  431. Amazon Customer

Good learning bookMy almost 3 year old enjoys cutting with this book. It’s about half the size of a sheet of printer paper, but that may be more manageable for little hands.

  433. School Librarian

Perfect for pre KLearning to use scissors is a universal pre K skill. This book is colorful and has interesting cutouts for little hands. Good quality paper that doesn’t tear easily.

  434. Albert N Gonzalez

Great book to work on fine motor skillsThis was a great tool for my son who needs work on fine motor skills. He worked on one page per day and by the end of the book he was zooming right along! My son did use adaptive scissors but I’m sure regular ones are efficient As well

It’s an youtube, here’s the link: […].

great for teachinggreat for helping teach my boy how to cut paper!

  438. ceniscocenis

  441. Cassandra

Too smallI really had high expectations for this being my first scissor book for my 5 year old but I did not like it its soooo small it was extremely hard for her to try to cut and actually had to figure out not good directions at all

  442. someone who cares

perfect for little handsI was suspicious but the number of reviews persuaded me.

  443. Liz

  444. wxyzzzzzzzz

  445. Patrick M.

momof3I bought this book for Christmas for my 3 year old who wants to do school like his 2 older brothers.

  446. danielle

YesThis is great for my 3 yr old. She’s doing amazing with it

  447. J Harris

Great little bookFun book that builds up to more complicated cuts… each activity is something the kids can play with after… my little guy was so proud after each one!

  448. B&V H

Excellent scissors practice! Teacher recommend!Excellent scissors practice, begins easily and works up to a more skill-requiring cut, some even make puzzles. My children loved them!

  449. Daniel Glasgow

Best for four year oldsMy homeschool preschooler loves this brand and in particular this book. She wasn’t ready at two or three but at four she takes to it like a duck to water.

  450. Amazon Customer

Great resource and Easy to useIt’s easy to remove pages from the book and the I like how it slowly gets harder . It’s a great resource so kids get comfortable holding and using scissors. Most pages have a puzzle to solve after they cut on the line which is a nice addition.

  452. Crys

Great for beginnersCute artwork and clever activities keep them wanting to do just one more.

but this little book is awesome!

  459. BrittLee

buy it!!perfect for my 3 year old and 4 year old.

  460. older and wiser

  464. Kathy

Thank you for this adorable and helpful bookGrandson was not interested in cutting until we got this book. Now he’s loving it! The idea that he can actually make things perks his interest. He’s enjoying cutting now. What a difference! Thank you for this adorable and helpful book!

Bought as a gift It looks very niceLooks nice…bought as a gift.

  467. starma58

Helped teach my granddaughter to cutMy 3-year old granddaughter was starting to learn to cut and LOVES this book. There are progressively more difficult pages to cut. An adult cuts out the page and the child follows the wide gray lines, stopping at the star. Her skills have really improved.

  468. MF

Love them!My newly 3 year old asks for “cutting school” almost every day. She loves these books!

  469. CynS

Build dexterity skillsMy five year old granddaughter loves this book. You can start kids pretty early in age to learn how to cut, so this is more practice for her versus beginning skill set. This is a great exercise for dexterity skills.

  470. mama

She is really good with scissors nowMy daughter learned how to use this at age 2. She is really good with scissors now. Does make a huge mess, but happy she is learning in the process. Wish it had more pages!

  472. KS

Great Activity Book!Excellent for my 3 year old! She loves choosing her pages and practicing her cutting skills. Very happy with this purchase!

I don’t think she can do all of the exercises at this point since she just started using scissors but it’s a nice book she can grow with.

Scissor skillsThese are great for cutting practice. My three year old can’t wait to pick a design to cut everyday. It’s pricy for cutting practice but he likes to do it so much it’s worth it.

  488. ginger730

Just OKBought this based on rave reviews, but 4 year old isn’t really interested. A bit over her head in concept as each page has different directions on what and where things should be cut. She’s more interested in cut and paste pages built on a theme. Graphics are well done though.

  489. megnh

Useful and beautiful colorsA very fun book! After the kids cut, they paste the pieces onto a larger piece of paper. The paper has a nice weight and beautiful colors.

  493. Lindsey Wolfe

.Smaller than I thought it was going to be, but that’s my fault for not paying attention to the listed dimensions. 🙂

My grandchildren love thesePerfect to help those little hands learn how to cut along the line and create items with their scissors. My 4 year old granddaughter loves this.. She’s been in love with cutting paper since she started young preschool 9 months ago.

  499. Agutie

Good item for the price tooMy little guy loves his cut along book. Keeps him busy without need of tv or computer. Pages are not flimsy either. Good item for the price too.

Develops hand strength while maintaining their attentionMy 4 year old is a little behind in some of his fine motor skills, so I purchased this book so he could build hand strength and develop cutting skills. He loves the pictures and that he’s actually made something interested after he’s finished cutting. Highly recommend.

  501. Rebelfair

3 year old really likes itVibrant and fun pictures. It’s smaller, 6×9 inches maybe or 5×7, and then you cut the lower part of the paper off for your youngster to cut into. So the paper is a small square and they can hold it pretty easily.

  502. Kayla

couldn’t live with out these booksPerfect my 2 1/2yo son loves his lessons with kumons books this one is more challenging but that’s the point to let them learn :), he’s cut a straight line with my help and was sooo proud etc, we chose the Maped kidi cut security scissors and they work perfectly together for a great learning play time!

Age appropriate and funMy daughter is 29 months old and learning how to cut. This book starts easy and gradually gets more challenging. She is really enjoying it. I try to let her only do one page a day as the book recommends but she always wants to do more.

  506. Elizabeth the Mom

Another great book by Kumon for small learning sessions .Very cute activities , however it would be nice to have dotted lines so toddlers knows can tell clearly where to cut .

  507. Kylie Patterson

Thanks!

  511. Sydney Y

I’ve seen betterIt’s a good product but pages need perforation. Also, some of the pages are just down right hard to follow. Each page is about 1/2 of a regular sheet of paper.

  513. Jacque C.

It’s a great quality, although I wish the pages were perforated …Starting home education with my youngest. He is excited about this book but will take practice! It’s a great quality, although I wish the pages were perforated because doing this lesson would be easier with a flat page on the table

  514. Jennifer

Lots of funI love all of these little books! They are great for my 5 year who needs fine motor skill practice and for my 2 year old as well. They start off simple and get more complex as they master skills plus they are so cute I have to resist to them myself 🙂

best cutting curriculum on the market – Let’s Cut PaperNote: This review is about Let’s Cut Paper.

  635. Suzie Glaser

Great for learning thoughMy daughter is 3 and can cut the straights lines (kind of) but the curved lines become difficult. Great for learning though. Lot’s of paper waste- I think I’ll make them into confetti.

My twins love workbooks. This is the workbook I purchased with the Stanley Minnow 5″ Pointed Tip Kids Scissors. (Also reviewed). The girls love both! They fill the day with activities and will be truly ready for next year and Kindergarten!

  643. C. Burks

  650. happy shopper

  652. Prooflike

EntertainingMy daughter loved this book. She was entertained for a long time with it. Each activity gets harder as you go along. She can now cut very well with scissors!

Fun play with kumon workbook seriesI am a dad of a 2 years old boy. This workbook has a simple and fun material which is exactly for kids around 2. I felt it’s a bit pricy for what it has, but I am generally satisfied with this book since it’s hard to find this kind of books for this age.

  656. Amazon_Consumer

Good BuyMy 2 1/2 yr old son and I love the fact he gets to practice using scissors in a fun way. This book is perfect for his age and skill level.

The activities get progressively more challenging throughout the book.My 3.5-year-old loves doing the cutting, and loves playing with his creations afterward.

allows children to enhance their fine motor skills independentlyGreat workbook. It allowed my 4-year old to improve her paper curring skills systematically and independently. very good activity bookI bought this for my 2-year-old son.

  695. Birgit Sch.

For example you can ask your child to paste pictures he or she cut out into a scrap book or else. Brilliant book as many other Kumon books.

  746. Luby

  748. George L

Four StarsGreat for getting pre schoolers to learn to use scissors, some are quite hard

  756. indi

Simple, colorful, funThe difficulty increases page by page. My 3-y.o. has lots of fun with it. The drawings and the colors are very nice. (Two of the characters have been sleeping in his bed for 5 days now!)

Worth the price for kids’ enjoyment whilst learning!Teaches fine motor skills and control whilst being an awful lot of fun! Granchildren enjoyed it enormously and it gave hours of engagement.

  767. ANA BEATRIZ A NEVES

Poor value for moneyI bought this for my two year old who loves to draw and play with cutouts. Unfortunately this book is not very intuitive nor does it capture a toddler’s imagination.

Two StarsMy boy is 2 and a half and just wasn’t ready for this.
