Lots of TracingThis workbook is great for a struggling writer because it uses a lot of tracing to develop confidence. The words are grouped by topic, and the pages have just enough color and illustration to keep kid’s interest.

Words are too complicated in this book for 4 year olds.What 4 year old uses the word “rough”? We’ve purchased many of the Kumon books in this series. They’re all excellent. But this one is not good at all. Has very random words for 4, 5, 6 year old kids. They should be 2, and three, and four letter words. Not words like Smooth.

Great for 6-year-old who struggles with readingMy niece struggles with reading, and is going into first grade in the fall. Bought this to give her some extra summer practice. Most kindergartners should have mastered many or most of these words, so I would typically recommend it for preschoolers or young kindergartners, but it has been good for extra practice in the summer.
