Short & to the PointI’m doing a social studies with my child and I feel it’s not meeting his needs. He doesn’t need to hear long and deep details per continents. He simply needs to understand and memorize the continents before moving onto the continents details. Therefore, I purchased this for his next study. I will be using it for my child’s 2nd half of 1st grade. It will fit in perfect.

Good for introducing kids to various countries and landmarksMy 5yr old loved it!! A bit easy for him in terms of activity but we had good conversations about different countries and natural wonders.

Just ok- good intro to geo but repetitiveIt’s ok. I love that there is K books that arent just about learning letters but it is pretty repetitive, like most K workbooks. Its the same 3-4 pages repeated over and over for different continents.

DENIES THE EXISTANCE OF TAIWANI loved the US geography book. It was great. I’d been hearing whispers that China has been forcing companies to remove all mentions of Taiwan and other territories from books and maps. While all other counties in the book are meticulously labeled Taiwan, Askai Chin and Arunachai are all just unlabled territories on the map.Why should you care? China has decided to simply remove countries off the map. They will no longer print maps that identify Taiwan or these other areas. That’s it. They’re gone.If you use this book, teach your kids about Taiwan and the other countries that go nameless.

Bland illustrations and advanced contentNot as colorful or simplified as I was hoping for my 4yo. This looks more like 2nd grade level in my opinion.

  10. MommaSam

Can be completed very quickly. Not enough meat for me.Not what I expected really. One to two stickers per page. A few easy mazes. I guess you could show a video clip about each topic and then do the page in here to reinforce for about 30 seconds.

Weak for a Kumon bookI’m a big fan of Kumon books for my 3 and 6 year old kids, but this one was a flop. The majority of pages are tri-color maps. After coloring 5 continents green by page 5, my kid didn’t want to see the book ever again. This is one area where I think popular Montessori books show their strength over Kumon. Associate the countries with animals or popular foods and kids will never forget. But ask a 5-6 yr old to color a bunch of countries/continents and they’ll forget what they’re doing before they even finish coloring. That’s our experience anyway.
